Who are we?

We are King’s DanceSport, an established dance school based in Kettering Northamptonshire specialising in Sequence, Ballroom & Latin American. The school was founded by the current owner and principal Marjorie Cherry, in 1968.


We value your privacy, so it’s important that we are clear on what information we collect about you, why we use it and the steps we will take to secure it. We will also be very clear on your rights, under current legislation.


  1. What data do we collect?


We only collect the minimum amount of information, for very limited purposes. The types of information we collect are;

  • Date of birth

  • Emails address

  • Passwords

  • Address

  • Contact details

  • Payment details (via subscription to Dancesport channel only)

  • Health conditions (we may ask you to disclose relevant health conditions to ensure your safety)

   3. What do we use this data for?


We process the minimum amount of information necessary for specific purposes, which includes


  • Providing Services (including online services)

    • Maintaining records of students

    • Entering students into exams and competitions

    • Arranging and providing dance tuition

    • To provide access to online services (website members  & dancesport channel subscription)


  • Communication and Marketing

    • To inform you of services, products, competitions and events which may be of interest to you

    • To communicate key messages including cancellations, inform of school closure and safety concerns.

    • To send you information about your subscription/membership; such as the cancellation terms 


We will not pass any of your data onto third parties marketing agencies under any circumstance.

   4. Keeping your data secure


We take all appropriate steps to safeguard your information, with both physical and electronic systems in place.


Our company is hosted on the platform. provides us with the online platform that allows us to sell our products and services to you. Your data may be stored through’s data storage, databases and the general applications. They store your data on secure servers behind a firewall. 

All direct payment gateways offered by and used by our company adhere to the standards set by PCI-DSS as managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which is a joint effort of brands like Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. PCI-DSS requirements help ensure the secure handling of credit card information by our store and its service providers.


Access to your data is limited to those who require it to perform any of the actions outline in this policy. Password access will be required to view any electronically stored information. Access will also be limited on a need to know basis. Named persons who will have access to your data;

   5. Data Retention 

We promise not to keep information about you for any longer than is necessary. We will securely delete and/or dispose of your information as soon as we no longer have a reasonable need for it. We will review the information we posses at the end of each financial year. We will contact you and ask to make sure that the information is correct and up to date. At each annual review point, we will delete all of the unnecessary information we hold on students who are no longer active with the school; see exceptions below.

Accounting Information - 7 years, in line with UK law. 

Safeguarding Information - 10 years 

Complaints - 5 years

Under current GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) you have certain rights.
